There were many reasons why we choose to refresh our online spot a bit, and here they are.

The main and most important purpose of our new website is to serve our community better.

What’s new in our brand new website

One shortcoming of our old website was that information was hard to find, and sometimes confusing. We received many suggestions from the community asking to improve navigations through the website. The subject people were complaining the most is that pieces of information related to MyVolumio were hard to find. Our solution? Create a 101 section of all things Volumio here.

With this new redesign, we want to offer visitors a clear overview of what Volumio is and why it’s great for their music. Also, we wanted to explain in detail what MyVolumio is, how it works and give a clear and transparent overview of the different plans.  And yes, a clear and immediate of the pricing options, see them here.

On top of that, we added a coherent styling for all our Dropshipping products, to offer our partners in the shop an even nicer showcase and help them get their excellent products showcased as they deserve. We also hope that this new Shop experience will help the least expert to have a clear idea on which device might best suit their needs. So, without further do, head on the Shop page.

As you know, Volumio could not be there without its dedicated and passionate team. We’re really excited to announce that even more awesome people joined us in the last few months, and we thought they deserved a place of honor in our Team page. Get to know us at the Team page.

Another great area of revamp went into the OEM page. We had huge satisfactions this year with our Oem Program, cooperating with cutting edge Audio Brands like Pro-Ject Audio Systems and Mini-DSP. Last: we want to bring Volumio to exciting new levels, and to do that we want to attract every music lover out there. The more we are, the better.

Welcome the MAMBOBERRY LS DAC+

We’ve promised that Volumio Shop will be the place where curious audiophiles could find the latest and finest products from independent manufacturers, and with today’s addition we’re definetely pursuing that goal. The Mamboberry LS DAC + is definetely a must-have for discerning audiophiles, let’s see why:

First, it can be fed with an external 5V Power Supply, and we all know how critical a good power supply is for sound quality. Pair this beauty with a good PSU like the Ifi iPower and you’ve done all the clever.

Then, it features the Sabre ESS 9023 which is just an amazing DAC, with the highest performance\cost ratio ever… We love its detailed yet pleasant signature, and the implementation on this DAC is indeed very good. Which brings us to third point.

The Mamboberry is made with carefully selected components, and yes they make a difference. Nichicon audio series main filter caps and Susumu low noise resistors, just to name a pair.

Volumio has now a Shop, and its purpose is just parallel to the player you already love. One of the most frequent questions that friends were asking, when speaking of Volumio was: “Nice, but how do I get it?”. I then realized how descouraging could be for a novice to get  all the things needed to obtain a proper Volumio player. With the Volumio shop, we can offer a showcase of the best affordable ways to build such a thing, and allow a fast and easy way to gather all necessary components for a Volumio powered music player.

Also, it’s a great time to be an audiophile: with the rise of small computers like the Raspberry PI and Volumio everyone can build an Audiophile streamer without emptying his pockets. And the whole Audio scene sees new independent manufacturers bring exciting products to the market every day, both for DIYers and curious consumers. Some of those manufacturers have been constantly in touch with us since the beginning, and I like to think that this Audio revolution was made possible by this unique hardware and software combination.

So the idea here is to offer such brilliant manufacturers a way to showcase their products to a larger crowd, and offering a curated selection of the most well perfomining accessories and solutions.

Last but not least, Volumio Team is now committed full-time to the project and the shop will be a great way to sustain future developments of our faviourite Audiophile Music Player. We think that we can serve this goal better only if devoted full time, and finding sustainable monetization strategies like the shop and our OEM Program.

The whole point is to create a winning situation for everyone: Volumio users will benefit from a great and curated selection, independent manufacturers will gather precious resources and Volumio will get a solid base to fund improvements. I sincerely hope this strategy will make Volumio a better place for everybody, without loosing its core principles.
